Hello everyone,
I wasn't looking forward to having to post this message, however it looks as if Footloose is not going to happen this summer at the Meadville Community Theater.
With several factors coming into play, it appears that it is of the best interest for the theater, that Footloose remain in the archives of "Shows yet to come".
Thank you for all of your personal interest, I highly encourage all of you to participate in the upcoming summer season at The Academy Theatre. They will be performing "Into the Woods", "Guys & Dolls" and "The Wedding Singer".
If you have any questions regarding THESE shows, feel free to contact me and I can lead you in the right direction.
Til next time,
Brandon

Footloose Update
Hello All Footloose Enthusiasts!
It's your director signing on again. I just wanted to provide an update...
Despite some recent difficulties and uncertainties... The show must go on and everything is still on the go. I am posting some more information regarding audition requirements AND the basic structure of how rehearsals are going to go so that you can maximize your scheduling for the upcoming months.
For the initial auditions...
EVERYONE will be singing the first verse of the song "Footloose", a capella. The goal of this is to give the audition panel an idea of how you can stylize your voice. It can be in any key that you feel is comfortable. The lyrics to that verse are as follows:
Been workin', so hard. I'm punchin' my card. Eight hours, for what? Oh tell me what I got.
I got this feeling, that time is holding me down. I'll hit the ceilin' or else I'll tear up this town.
If you are interested in a dancing role, at the first auditions you will be taught a medium-level dance routine. From this, you will be separated into two groups for callbacks. One groups will be a more advanced dance group, that focuses more on movement and less on vocals. The other will focus more on vocals and less on movement. Due to the size of the performance space, I cannot have fifty adults and high schoolers dancing at once, so I have to be selective.
Also, for callbacks, the only roles that I will be vocally trying out for at callbacks are:
If you have any questions regarding auditions, feel free to contact me, or post the questions here.
ALSO... I AM STILL LOOKING FOR A STAGE MANAGER. Unfortunately, Jayme is unable to help with this production. Let me know if you're interested. :)
Til next time,
Brandon

Also, for callbacks, the only roles that I will be vocally trying out for at callbacks are:
- Ren (male, looks like high schooler, baritenor)
- Ariel (female, looks like high schooler, soprano)
- Rusty, Wendy Jo, Urleen (female, looks like high schoolers, belter alto-soprano)
As a reminder... I will be casting adults in the adult roles. So PLEASE encourage your parents to audition as well.
Once auditions are completed...
Dance rehearsals will take place Sunday nights.
6:00 - 8:30 for Group A, 6:00 - 9:00 for Group B.
Vocal rehearsals will not start until end of May at the 6 week mark. Schedules will be worked out so that cast members can participate in The Wedding Singer OR Into The Woods. However, you will not be allowed to participate in Guys and Dolls due to conflicting show dates. I will be very flexible as far as scheduling goes, but Tech Week will be mandatory. You must be very up front about your conflicts and let me know ahead of time so that we can make this show work. It is a large production and we need everyone on board as much as possible. There will be many other opportunities to perform and advertise other than the seven shows currently scheduled. If you have any questions regarding auditions, feel free to contact me, or post the questions here.
